Android has “captured” half of smartphones in Russia
MTS has published a report of its retail network on all smartphones sold for the first half of this year.
In the first half of the year, the company managed to sell about 5 million smartphones, which is 1.7 times higher than last year. In monetary terms, this figure is 54 billion rubles (62.4% of the total profit of the retail chain). The company itself notes that the number of customers using smartphones has doubled over the year.
The company’s largest revenue came from mobile devices Apple iPhone 4S, Apple iPhone 4, Nokia 8800arte, Nokia 800 and Samsung N7000.
As for the popularity of mobile operating systems in the Russian market, the Android platform has consolidated its leadership position, reaching a share of 49%. A quarter of smartphones account for the Symbian operating system. The third most popular Bada – its share is 14%. This is followed by iOS (6%) and Windows Phone (5.5%).
