Square Enix supported Ouya

Square Enix has officially announced that the classic jRPG Final Fantasy 3, previously released on the Nintendo DS handheld console (2006) and on iOS (2011), will be optimized for the Ouya platform and will be included in its launch line.

To begin with, a brief educational program for those who do not know. Ouya is a full-fledged set-top box running on Android 4. The Tegra 3 chest has 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory. In general, almost a smartphone only without a screen, but with HDMI and a full-fledged wireless gamepad. At the moment, Ouya is just raising money to launch the console into production using the Kickstarter service (the required amount is $950 thousand – she has already scored, even with an excess of more than $ 5 million).

So, Square Enix — one of the world’s largest console publishers – supported the initiatives of Ouya. If earlier developers entered into a partnership agreement with relatively small companies like inXile, Robotoki, OnLive cloud service, then Square Enix became the first really large player in the global market that went to meet Ouya.

Moreover, the role-playing project of the company Final Fantasy 3 will be included in the starting line of Ouya games. And, attention, the role-playing game will even be shareware (an incredibly generous step on the part of a very stingy Square Enix in the mobile market).

And now a couple of words about why we are writing about Ouya.

It’s not just about its stuffing, which is a one-on-one copy of any mobile flagship, and not in the operating system, which is still considered mobile, it’s just that if Ouya is successful, we will have a close integration of the console and mobile industries, and this is a revolution quite comparable to the one that Steve Jobs arranged, presenting to the general public on January 9 2007, the first iPhone.
