Electronic Arts - bet on mobile

Among the largest game publishers, perhaps, it is Electronic Arts that is most actively and consistently developing the digital and mobile directions. And although the company earned less on the mobile front in the last quarter ended June 30 than in the previous three months, there is a clear general trend towards an increase in revenue in this sector.

So, according to the quarterly report, EA Mobile earned $69 million, which is 21% higher than in the corresponding period last year, but 20.6% less than in the previous quarter. Moreover, there is nothing surprising in the annual growth, since the current figures take into account the full sales figures of PopCap Games products, and a year ago only those titles appeared, the publisher and distributor of which was Electronic Arts. Note that the share of mobile games business in EA’s total revenue structure for the reporting quarter was 7%.

Commenting on the results of the quarter, EA Labels President Frank Gibault stated that the company continues to successfully move towards achieving its goal of becoming a leader in digital entertainment, and over the past year its net (non–GAAP) revenue from digital sales amounted to more than $1.3 billion.
