The last Finnish phone

Nokia, adhering to the business restructuring plan, on Friday closed the last Finnish factory for the production of smartphones and mobile phones. 

Finnish company Nokia no longer manufactures devices in its country. Last Friday it became known that the company is closing the last Finnish plant in the city of Salo and dismissing 3,700 employees. 

This decision was made as part of a massive job cuts, which became known in June. The company also intends to close its research units in Canada and Germany in the near future. 

Thus, the company hopes to save about 2 billion euros. Considering that Nokia has been losing $1 billion for the third quarter in a row, it seems that its management is simply trying to prolong the agony of the company or at least hold out until the start of sales of the first Windows Phone 8-based devices.
