Holiday on Gameloft Street

The French performed well in the second quarter of this year, collecting 119% more money on smartphones and tablets than in the second quarter of last year.

While Zynga is reporting losses (we will continue this topic today), the French mobile publisher Gameloft reports record sales in the second quarter of this year. In April-May, the company earned $61.9 million dollars. This is 35% more than in the second quarter of last year, and 12.5% more than in the first quarter of this year.

Gameloft’s revenues from games for smartphones and tablets in the second quarter of 2012 increased by a staggering 119% compared to the same period of 2011. So at the moment, more than half of the sales are accounted for by the revenue from the mobile segment. For comparison, in the first quarter of this year, games for smartphones/tablets accounted for only 40% of the company’s revenue.

The company also stressed that its revenue from advertising and IAP has grown significantly. 60% of “smartphone” sales come from them (in the last quarter, advertising and in-game purchases accounted for only 50%). However, the company’s latest hits like The Dark Knight Rises and The Amazing Spider-Man are distributed as premium apps at a price of $6.99. Be that as it may, both support IAP, a model that has become extremely effective for the company recently.

Gameloft also announced that the audience of its games has reached a value of 55 million active users per month. Recall that back in March, the company reported that its MAU is 35 million. Speaking of where the money comes from: North America accounts for 33% of the company’s revenue, Europe and the Middle East – 26%, the Asia-Pacific region – 22%, and another 20% in Latin America.

In connection with the results for the second quarter, the company revised its forecasts for 2012 to $246 million (this is 22% more than the results of 2011).

By the way, all this would be impossible without a whole line of the strongest products: including such blockbusters as N.O.V.A. 3, Asphalt 7: Heat, Men in Black 3, Ice Age Village, Shark Dash and many others.
