The Nexus 7 is over

Google managers seriously underestimated the market potential of the older version of their own tablet. As it became known yesterday, the 16 GB Nexus 7 has already been completely sold out by now. 

So the search giant no longer accepts orders for it. The harsh inscription “coming soon” is posted on the product page, under which the user is asked to leave his mailing address to notify about the appearance of the Nexus 7 on 16 GB on sale. As for the 8 GB version of the tablet, it can still be ordered (if you, of course, live in the USA or England, Australia).   

According to The Guardian, citing sources close to Google, the company did not expect that the older model of the device would be more popular. It was assumed that the 8 GB version, which costs £159 in the UK and $199 in the US, would diverge “like hot cakes“. But their expectations were not met. Users, knowing about the impossibility of increasing memory in the Nexus 7, decided not to save. 

Moreover, online stores also bypass the 8 GB version of the tablet. Some of them do not sell it at all, at the same time they are happy to distribute the 16 GB version (for example, this is what the British Tesco online store does). 

It is unlikely, based on this, that it can be argued that the Google 8 GB tablet is not in demand (especially since the representative of the Dixon retail network claims that sales of the Nexus 7 are “very lively”), but the fact that not everyone wants to sell the younger model, to put it mildly, is alarming.
