Windows Phone: 90 thousand apps

According to unofficial data, there are very few left to the mark of 100 thousand unique applications on the Microsoft platform.

Portal WP7Applist.com I scanned 65 Windows Phone Marketplace app stores and counted 90,327 unique apps. For counting, the portal used a non-standard method of counting applications. Its exclusivity lies in the fact that it counts all the app stores of a particular platform. 

100 thousand applications is in many ways a psychological barrier, overcoming which the Windows Phone Marketplace can hope for more attention from developers, and therefore for a more active increase in the number of applications.

Recall that the Apple App Store crossed this threshold in October 2009, the Android Market exactly one year and one day later. At the moment, the App Store has 600 thousand programs, and the Google Play Store has 500 thousand. 

Going back to the Windows Phone Marketplace, guys with WP7Applist.com it was also estimated that 66% of the applications in this store of mobile applications are distributed for free, 23% are paid applications, and another 11% belong to the trial category. 

The most popular category of apps in the Windows Phone Marketplace is “entertainment” with 17%. In second place in popularity with 15% “tools and productivity”. And only the third place is occupied by games with 13%.
