The BAFTA Games Committee has welcomed Charu Desodt, head of Interior Night studio, as its new chairperson.

Desodt steps into the role previously held by Tara Saunders, who now serves as Lego Digital Play's senior people partner.

Saunders expressed her appreciation as she concluded her chairmanship and BAFTA Board of Trustees membership, stating, "As my tenure as chair of the BAFTA Games Committee and member of the BAFTA Board of Trustees comes to a close, I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who made this journey so unforgettable over the last 10 years."

With over 25 years in the gaming industry, Desodt brings a wealth of experience, having held key production roles at Microsoft, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, and Preloaded. She is also a member of the UK Video Games Council.

Having joined Interior Night in 2018 as production director, Desodt advanced to studio director by December 2022. She is one of the three newly elected chairs to BAFTA's Board of Trustees, alongside Hilary Rosen.

Hilary Rosen, director of commissioning at UKTV, has been part of the BAFTA Television Committee since 2021 and formerly chaired it. She takes over from Sara Putt and will serve a three-year term, with Ade Rawcliffe and Andrew Miller as her deputies.

Caroline Levy, a film producer, has assumed the chair of the Television Committee, while Nahrein Kemp, ITV's DEI and talent lead, heads the Learning, Inclusion, and Talent (LIT) Committee.

Rosen shared her enthusiasm for her new role, stating, "I have long been passionate about everything BAFTA does to promote the screen arts and champion talent across the screen industries, so it is a great privilege to take on the role of BAFTA Chair."

She added, "I am delighted to be able to do this alongside our newly appointed committee chairs, Charu, Caroline, and Nahrein, and the rest of the BAFTA Board of Trustees. All are outstanding industry leaders and with the collective passion and insight we share I'm confident that this Board of Trustees will continue to build on the important and impactful work that has gone before."
