A petition with over 223,000 signatures is urging Electronic Arts to make efforts to "save Mass Effect."

On October 21, EA revealed its plan to shut down BioWare, the studio behind Mass Effect and Dragon Age, after more than three decades, and to halt development on the upcoming Mass Effect installment.

Reacting to this news, a Change.org petition has garnered over 223,000 signatures demanding EA "take decisive action" by pledging to continue the development of Mass Effect.

The individual who launched the petition, Joe Smith, stated: "We are urgently petitioning EA to take decisive action by committing to the continued development of Mass Effect."

The petition calls for appropriate investment, sufficient staffing, and time dedication to uphold and enhance the quality standards associated with the franchise.

The petition further suggests that EA might consider licensing Mass Effect to another studio passionate about maintaining and revitalizing the series.

EA has not given any public statement regarding the future of BioWare's major series, apart from confirming the termination of the next Mass Effect game.

This decision follows less than three months after EA's acquisition completed by PIF, Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners on August 4.

The European Commission had approved the $55 billion acquisition of Electronic Arts by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund in July, declaring it would not lead to competition issues.
