The GDC Festival of Gaming 2027 has shifted to a four-day format to "offer a higher quality, more focused, and worthwhile experience"

The 2027 GDC Festival of Gaming is set to adopt a four-day schedule, taking place from Monday to Thursday, March 1 through March 4. This adjustment is aimed at enhancing the quality and focus of the event, according to the organizers. By concentrating the proceedings on the days with the highest attendance, the event intends to help participants balance their professional duties with personal obligations.

The upcoming event promises an array of conference sessions, expanded workshops, interactive activities, and increased networking opportunities over its duration. The Business Hall, located at Moscone West, will be open for the entirety of the event, while the Festival Hall at Moscone South will operate from Tuesday to Thursday.

This initiative was previously announced, alongside new ticket options and expansions to the GDC Summit, as shared by the organizers. GDC's VP of content strategy, Mark DeLoura, emphasized the importance of community feedback in shaping the changes. Following the 2026 introduction of the Festival of Gaming, listening to attendees was crucial in refining GDC's offerings.

DeLoura further detailed that GDC 2027 aims to provide attendees with more flexibility in participation, making it easier to foster meaningful interactions and achieve event objectives. In a related update, the Game Developers Choice Awards (GDCA) will now allow direct submissions from developers and publishers. Previously, it relied on nominations through the International Choice Awards Network. Games eligible for submission must have been released on PC or console between January 1 and December 31, 2026, with the deadline for submissions set for November 1, 2026.
