Android dominates Japan
Google’s platform took 61% of the smartphone market of the land of the Rising Sun, iOS in second place.
Android continues to capture key mobile markets, comScore reports in its latest report. At the end of February this year, the share of the platform in Japan has grown to 61%. On average, Android’s share is growing in this market by 0.1% per month. Despite the much more active growth of iOS, it still has a little less than a third of the market.
At the same time, Apple is only the eighth largest manufacturer of mobile devices in the region. Sharp is in first place with 23.5% of the market, Panasonic is in second place with 13.8%, and Fujitsu closes the top three with 11.8%.
