PlaySimple Studio will go public later than initially planned

PlaySimple is a mobile studio from India specializing in word games. A year ago, its parent company Modern Times Group (MTG) announced plans to take the team public, but now has chosen to delay this move.

In an interview with the financial outlet EFN, MTG's CEO Maria Redin shared that PlaySimple will not conduct an IPO until next year. The postponement is due to the challenging situation on the Indian stock market. Recently, the market experienced a downturn, leading investors to become more cautious about small company debuts. According to Redin, under these conditions, PlaySimple risks not achieving its intended goals.

Initially, PlaySimple planned to go public in the second half of 2026. During the IPO, the studio aimed to issue shares worth 31.5 billion rupees (350 million dollars). Whether this amount will change is currently unknown.

PlaySimple has been operating since 2014. Its portfolio includes games such as Word Jam, Word Wars, and Daily Themed Crossword. In the summer of 2021, MTG acquired the studio for 360 million dollars.
