Roblox will still pay a fine in Russia for promoting LGBT*
The company failed to overturn the penalty.
Recall, Roblox was found guilty of propagating LGBT* content in the spring of 2026. At that time, the Tagansky Court of Moscow ruled that it violated Russian law by distributing content on non-traditional relationships on its eponymous platform. For this, Roblox was fined twice, with each fine amounting to 4 million rubles.
Roblox disagreed with the verdict and appealed to a higher court, the Moscow City Court. However, after several months of proceedings, the court upheld the original decision.
"The appellate instance of the Moscow City Court, having reviewed the arguments of the appeal, recognized the imposed penalty as lawful and proportionate," states the Telegram channel of Moscow's general jurisdiction courts.
It's worth noting that it seems the Moscow City Court has currently issued a verdict on only one of the two fines for Roblox. At least, the court's press service mentioned a sum of 4 million rubles, not 8 million rubles, in their post. The status of the second fine remains unclear.
*The international LGBT movement is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia.
