Paramount Pictures is set to create a live-action movie based on the universe of Cyberpunk 2077. As reported by Deadline, the production will be a collaborative effort between CD Projekt Red and Lorenzo di Bonaventura, known for his work on Transformers.

CDPR co-CEO Michał Nowakowski expressed enthusiasm, stating, "We're excited about Paramount as a future partner who shares our creative ambitions for the Cyberpunk franchise. We look forward to sharing more details at the appropriate time." His comments were shared on social media.

Since 2022, CD Projekt Red has been involved with the anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, produced with studio Trigger. A new season is set to release shortly.

Meanwhile, CD Projekt Red is intensively working on The Witcher 4, having increased its development staff to 513. Additionally, CDPR's studio in Boston began developing a follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077.

Video game adaptations have recently enhanced the performance of related game series. Analysts highlighted that Zach Cregger's Resident Evil film led to a 50% rise in Capcom's Resident Evil engagement.

The Amazon series Fallout's second season surged to become one of the most-watched shows ever on Prime Video. After its debut, Fallout 4's player numbers on Steam more than doubled.

Paramount is also working on a Street Fighter film with Legendary and a Call of Duty movie directed by Peter Berg.

In recent developments, Paramount has finalized a $111 billion merger with Warner Bros. Discovery, operating collectively under the name Skydance, as mentioned in a GamesIndustry.biz article.

The agreement led to the merging of Paramount Games Studio with WB Games under Skydance. Andy Gordon, president of Skydance, emphasized the company's strategy to expand across different media, including games and consumer products.

"These are core pillars of our strategy to build engagement and fandom in both the physical and digital worlds. We want to meet consumers where they watch, play, and engage. At the same time, we see opportunities to build on DC Comics' storytelling and expand our e-commerce offerings to connect fans with the brands they love."
