The video game NBA 2K25 is set to be removed from digital stores on October 30, 2026. Its servers will be shut down on December 31 of the same year, ending the availability of multiplayer and online gaming modes on January 1, 2027.

According to a statement from 2K, users who have previously purchased the game can still download it and access offline features such as Play Now, MyNBA, The W, and MyWNBA.

Online functionalities, including MyCareer and MyTeam, will not be usable. MyCareer is a story-driven single-player journey that uses virtual currency for character upgrades.

Initially released in September 2024, the removal of NBA 2K25 follows 2K's trend of discontinuing similar titles within a two-year window, as noted in industry reports.

Recently, the NBA renewed its partnership with 2K through an expanded multi-year global agreement.

This collaboration gave rise to NBA Take-Two Media, an initiative aimed at combining competitive gaming, social-focused content, original programming, and live events to engage fans and gamers alike.

Details of this agreement were not made public, though 2K has indicated that its series has reached cumulative sales of over 150 million copies worldwide.

Strauss Zelnick, chairman and CEO of Take-Two Interactive, expressed satisfaction with the ongoing collaboration with the NBA and the NBPA, anticipating further joint successes. He commented on the launch of NBA Take-Two Media as a step towards a novel NBA experience for enthusiasts.
