Chernin Entertainment, part of The North Road Company, is set to produce TV and film versions of Embark Studios' games, Arc Raiders and The Finals. These were chosen from various contenders aiming for adaptation rights.

As per Variety, this collaboration marks a significant progression in building "deeply integrated transmedia experiences," according to Patrick Söderlund, founder of Embark and CEO of Nexon.

David Ready, who oversees film at Chernin Entertainment, sees these projects as expansive global intellectual properties with the potential to evolve into major TV and movie franchises.

Arc Raiders, which premiered in October 2025, surpassed 16 million sales, winning best multiplayer game accolades at both the 2025 Game Awards and the 2026 BAFTA Games Awards. Meanwhile, The Finals, a free-to-play shooter, has seen over 30 million players in its first three years.

Chernin Entertainment has a history of successful productions, including the film Backrooms, which achieved over $400 million worldwide on a modest $10 million budget, and the Apple TV project Chief of War.

This adaptation trend continues with gaming IPs finding new life in film and television. The latest Resident Evil film is highly acclaimed as the top-rated video game movie adaptation to date. Additionally, Arcane: League of Legends’ second season maintains a flawless 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
