The daily audience of The Witcher 3 increased tenfold after the release of the remaster

The release of the updated version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt led to a huge surge in the game's daily active users (DAU), claims Alinea Analytics.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered

According to analysts, the day after the release of the remaster, the DAU for the third "Witcher" on Steam and consoles PlayStation and Xbox reached 2.38 million users—ten times higher than the average throughout 2026. Considering all platforms where the game is available, the figure should be even higher, but Alinea Analytics does not have such data.

Regarding the breakdown of DAU by platform, of the 2.38 million users, nearly half (48.6%) played the Steam version of The Witcher 3, another 40.4% played the PlayStation version, and 11% played the Xbox version.

How the game's DAU changed, according to Alinea Analytics

In addition, Alinea Analytics calculated that, following the release of the remaster and a 50% discount, a total of 130,000 copies of The Witcher 3 were sold in Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox over one day. It's noted that the last time the game showed significant daily sales was in July 2024, when CD PROJEKT RED slashed the price by 90%.

Regarding sales, analysts did not specify how the number was distributed across platforms. However, according to data from the Gamalytic service, The Witcher 3 alone sold 45,000 copies in Steam and earned $650,000 on September 29–30.

The remaster of The Witcher 3 was released on September 29 for PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, and Battle.net), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2. It is available for free to owners of the original and includes the expansions "Hearts of Stone" and "Blood and Wine."
