Media: The high cost of the studio may have deterred potential buyers from Ninja Theory

Recall that Microsoft's intention to sell Ninja Theory became known at the start of summer. During the announcement of the restructuring of its gaming division, the corporation announced that it had already found a buyer for the British studio and that the creators of the Hellblade franchise were soon to be acquired. However, this ultimately did not happen. Moreover, in September, Microsoft reported that two deals to sell Ninja Theory had fallen through.
Dring admits that he doesn't know the exact details of these deals. The journalist has hypotheses about who Microsoft was negotiating with, but they haven't been fully confirmed yet, so he refrained from naming names.
Nevertheless, Dring was able to speak with two other companies that were also eyeing Ninja Theory but at some point backed off their plans. In their case, the high price of the studio was the main reason for declining to make the purchase.
Dring did not state how much Microsoft is asking for Ninja Theory. The company itself bought the studio for $117 million in 2018.
Currently, Microsoft is considering the possibility of closing Ninja Theory. It has already begun the process of consultations with employees, which, according to British law, can last about six weeks. If no other solution is found within this time frame, Ninja Theory indeed risks ceasing to exist.
