IO Interactive announced a third delay for "007 First Light" on the Nintendo Switch 2, pushing its release to March 2027. The studio stated that the decision to postpone was necessary, as highlighted by technical producer Cristina Vega in an interview with Inven Global.

"Though it is unfortunate for fans, this delay ensures a more refined gaming experience," Vega explained. The team has been working extensively and needed time to recover, which, along with marketing influences and other factors, led to the new release timeline. Ensuring the game launches in its finest state on Switch 2 was a priority for Vega and her team.

The porting process to the Nintendo console is progressing positively, according to Vega, and is nearing completion, focusing on performance enhancements and detailed adjustments. "There's a possibility of finishing ahead of schedule, but as the release is slated for March 2027, we ask for a bit more patience," she mentioned.

Vega further elaborated that while the game is being fine-tuned for Switch 2, the intent is to provide a nearly identical experience to the PC version. Due to the limitations of Switch 2, some compromises were unavoidable, but these were made in non-essential areas so as not to detract from the player's experience.

Despite the necessary concessions, Vega assured that players might not observe significant differences, such as fewer non-playable characters (NPCs), and object details may vary slightly between the platforms.

IO Interactive's intention is to deliver an immersive James Bond experience across platforms, including Switch 2, as effectively as possible. Notably, the game's earlier release saw it achieving substantial commercial success, with 4 million units sold within three months from its initial launch in May.
