The GDC Festival of Gaming has named four individuals to its advisory board

The GDC Festival of Gaming has expanded its advisory board with four new members.

The newly appointed individuals are:

  • Amir Satvat, a general partner at 1Up Ventures and a former director of business development at Tencent Games
  • Alexa Ray Corriea, who is a narrative writer at Gearbox Software and has a background in journalism
  • Lucien Parsons, who serves as fractional COO at Dragon Snacks Games and is a GDCA Jury member for Debut Games
  • Perrin Kaplan, known for her leadership in marketing and PR and as a former vice president of marketing and corporate affairs at Nintendo of America

According to the organization, "the experience and knowledge our new members bring will benefit GDC greatly."

The advisory board is composed of more than 50 members, including seasoned professionals from the game industry who contribute to shaping the GDC Festival of Gaming's agenda.

Last month, the vice president of content strategy at GDC, Mark DeLoura, announced updates for the 2027 event, such as the introduction of a new Business Hall at Moscone West.

Other modifications entail three new pass types, dedicated formats for indie developers, startups, and a revised event schedule.

DeLoura mentioned to GamesIndustry.biz that the goal for the upcoming event is to improve flexibility based on feedback from within the industry.

He emphasized that understanding the community's needs is vital in enhancing how GDC supports the industry.

Reflecting on prior changes made in 2026 with the introduction of the Festival of Gaming, DeLoura noted the importance of understanding what aspects were successful and what needed improvement for future participation.

He concluded, "GDC 2027 focuses on expanding choices for participants, optimizing the event's structure to better align with current industry practices. These adjustments aim to increase accessibility and foster meaningful interactions, ensuring stakeholders achieve their objectives during the event."
