Shinji Mikami is set to be inducted into the AIAS Hall of Fame later this week

The creator of Resident Evil, Shinji Mikami, is set to be recognized by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) as he will be inducted into its Hall of Fame in the upcoming year.

Having spent three decades in the industry, Mikami has been behind several iconic intellectual properties such as Devil May Cry, The Evil Within, Hi-Fi Rush, and Ghostwire: Tokyo at Capcom and other companies. He is praised for fostering environments conducive to the growth of new talent in game development.

Mikami is currently the creative director and CEO at Unbound Inc.

AIAS president Meggan Scavio noted in a statement that Shinji Mikami is a substantial influence on both game enthusiasts and developers. "His unique creativity and vision have consistently inspired the action game sector. We're privileged to commemorate Mikami-san's contributions by inducting him during our 30th D.I.C.E. Awards anniversary," Scavio stated.

Goichi 'Suda51' Suda, appointed to present Mikami's award, said: "Mikami-san taught me essential insights into directing and designing games. Among his many mentees, I'm honored to present him at this accolade-worthy induction into the video game hall of fame."

"I believe Mikami-san's countless admirers and colleagues in the industry share in the joy of him gaining this prestigious recognition," Suda added.

Previously in the year, Evan Wells, the former co-president of Naughty Dog, was also inducted into the Hall of Fame at the DICE Awards. Last year, the honor was awarded to Ted Price, founder and former CEO of Insomniac Games.

Other recent recipients of this honor include composer Koji Kondo, Tim Schafer of Double Fine Productions, Mortal Kombat's co-creator Ed Boon, and PlayStation's ex-head of internal production, Connie Booth.
