An alliance has been established between Curve Games and the indie developer Wayfinder Studios for the release of Wyldheart, an online co-op role-playing game.

Stuart Dinsey, CEO of Curve Games, emphasized the company's interest in making significant investments in unique games and partnering with skillful independent studios, noting Wyldheart as emblematic of their future direction.

The collaboration marks a pivotal point in Curve Games' strategy following its acquisition by Nazara Technologies last May for £21.7 million.

Wayfinder Studios, based in Sweden, was created in 2020 by several ex-EA DICE professionals, including former creative director Dennis Brännvall, former studio director Fia Tjernberg, and DICE veterans Manne Ederyd and Adam Clark.

Their inaugural game, Wyldheart, gathered over 375,000 wishlists on Steam and successfully raised €248,000 through a Kickstarter campaign.

Brännvall expressed gratitude for the positive reception to Wyldheart, highlighting the importance of selecting an appropriate partner to harness this momentum, commending Curve for understanding their vision, audience, and future aspirations for Wayfinder.

Tjernberg shared with GamesIndustry.biz that the decision to enter a genre ripe for innovation drove their development of Wyldheart.

They noted that AAA industry experience often confirmed fan preferences for the familiar, not innovative. Wayfinder seeks to craft persistent worlds with MMOs that offer private servers, resembling personal experiences like those found in Minecraft or Valheim.
