Curve Games has entered into a collaboration with Wayfinder Studios to publish the online cooperative role-playing game, Wyldheart
In a new publishing venture, Curve Games has teamed up with Wayfinder Studios, an independent development team, to bring the online cooperative role-playing game Wyldheart to players.
Curve Games' CEO, Stuart Disney, expressed the company's keen interest in investing in unique gaming projects and nurturing independent development teams. He sees Wyldheart as a prime example of this direction for Curve Games.
This collaboration marks a significant step in Curve Games' strategic development plan following its acquisition by Nazara Technologies in May for £21.7 million.
Established in 2020, Sweden's Wayfinder Studios was founded by a group of former EA DICE professionals, including Dennis Brännvall, who was a creative director, former studio director Fia Tjernberg, and DICE alumni Manne Ederyd and Adam Clark.
Their first project, Wyldheart, has amassed over 375,000 Steam wishlists and successfully raised €248,000 through a Kickstarter campaign.
Brännvall commented on the partnership, saying, "The response to Wyldheart has been overwhelmingly positive, and it was critical for us to partner with someone who understood our vision. Curve has demonstrated that understanding and will support our journey as we advance Wyldheart."
In an earlier discussion with GamesIndustry.biz, Tjernberg mentioned that Wayfinder aimed to redefine the RPG genre, which they felt lacked recent innovation.
"Our background in AAA gaming showed us that audiences often crave familiar experiences. However, we are focused on personalizing our gaming experiences through persistent worlds and MMOs with private servers, akin to personal Minecraft or Valheim setups, rather than expansive platforms with thousands of players."
