Information about achievements for yet-to-be-released and secretive titles on Steam, such as Fable, Persona 6, Kingdom Hearts 4, and Control Resonant, has surfaced.

Simon Carless, founder of GameDiscoverCo, noted that Valve mistakenly introduced a significant bug concerning achievements following its routine maintenance window.

"Consequently, automated systems that track Steam achievement data, like Exophase and SteamDB, are capturing details for all games with achievements on Steam, including those not officially launched or announced," Carless commented.

Mike Bendel, who owns Exophase, explained that this situation was a mistake on Valve's part, rather than a data breach. Responding to a user on ResetEra, he mentioned that "numerous games with achievements which should be hidden are currently accessible via the API, hence they have been recorded on the site."

"Ordinarily, games without a proper name do not appear with achievements, but recently I've noticed several do; we assign the AppID when the name is unknown," Bendel added.

Additionally, according to Gematsu, other titles impacted include Gears of War: E-Day, Clutch, Horizon Hunters Gathering, Ace Combat 8, Metro 2039, Star Wars: Galactic Racer, Stranger Than Heaven, Rayman Legends: Retold, and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis.

GamesIndustry.biz has reached out to Valve for more details.

In a separate incident this July, Valve disclosed that customer data from Europe was exposed after a cyberattack targeted CEVA Logistics, the company managing Steam hardware shipping in the region.

Valve informed GamesIndustry.biz that the breach at CEVA took place from July 29 to August 1, with Valve being notified of the incident on August 7.
