Nexon is in talks with Blizzard about purchasing the rights to create games in the StarCraft universe
The contract is close to being signed, reports the Korean publication Chosun, citing a high-ranking industry representative.

A source from our colleagues believes that after the deal is finalized, Nexon may start working on StarCraft 3.
There is no official confirmation of this. However, in March, the companies signed an agreement under which Nexon became the Korean publisher of Overwatch.
The interest specifically in the StarCraft franchise is understandable. The first part was wildly popular in South Korea. Tournaments for it in the country filled stadiums. In modern internet cafes, the game still holds a spot in the top 10 most popular games.
Incidentally, this current news may be nothing more than an echo of other events.
In February, another Korean source reported on an agreement between Nexon and Blizzard to develop a shooter in the StarCraft universe.
At that time, this news coincided with reports by Jason Schreier that Dan Hay, who was responsible for developing all parts of Far Cry from the third to the sixth at Ubisoft, is leading the work on the StarCraft shooter.
