Frontier Developments, the studio behind Planet Coaster, reveals a new game based on a Disney intellectual property
Frontier Developments has established a collaboration with Disney to create a new game tapping into Disney’s extensive portfolio and intellectual properties.
The game will be financed, crafted, and distributed by Frontier, leveraging its expertise in the domain of creative management simulation (CMS) games.
Known for franchises like Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo, and Jurassic World Evolution, the company based in Cambridge is also engaging in the development of a new Planet game founded on its proprietary IP.
"We are thrilled to unveil this partnership with Disney, which underscores our strategic focus on building and supporting top-tier creative management simulation game franchises," stated Frontier's CEO Jo Cooke.
"Our aim with this project is to bring together a passionate community of creative players with one of the globe’s most celebrated and cherished brands, and I eagerly anticipate the innovations our skilled teams will achieve through this remarkable chance."
Recently, Frontier declared a rise in its annual revenue, marking its second-highest figure, climbing by 16% to reach £104.8 million, with operating profit increasing 44% to £19 million, surpassing the previous high of £15.9 million recorded in FY29.
The company attributes this financial success to its "strategic emphasis" on CMS games, which constituted 90% of its earnings during FY26.
In 2023, Frontier announced a pivot towards CMS games due to their potential for providing "stronger and more predictable returns."
The company’s objective is to introduce "one CMS title each year" while supporting "long-term, sustainable growth via premium, enduring game franchises."
