Focus Entertainment, a France-based publisher, has teamed up with Maverick Games to release a new racing game named Clutch.
Initially, Maverick collaborated with Amazon Game Studios for the game's development in 2024. However, this partnership came to an end when Amazon decided to concentrate on projects that utilized its specific capabilities and reach.
Harinder Sangha, the co-founder and COO of Maverick, mentioned to GamesIndustry.biz that the studio is engaging in "active dialogue with partners" who are aligned with their vision for the intellectual property, with more updates expected later.
Focus Entertainment has expressed that the partnership to publish Clutch will mark its first venture into the open-world racing genre, seeking to make Clutch a significant franchise.
The racing title is slated for a Spring 2027 release on platforms like PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Vincent Chataignier, Deputy CEO of Publishing at Focus Entertainment, expressed admiration for Mike Brown and his team, noting their significant contributions to the racing genre. He believes that Clutch aligns with Focus Entertainment’s creative goals.
Mike Brown, Maverick's CEO and founder, stated that Maverick was established with the intent to create the ultimate open-world racing experience. He appreciates Focus’s shared vision and dedication to Clutch and looks forward to player reactions.
Focus Entertainment operates under Pullup Entertainment, which manages several divisions, including Focus Entertainment Publishing and developer studios such as Deck13 and Streumon.
Maverick Games was established in 2023 by former developers from Playground Games, with Brown having previously contributed to the Forza Horizon series as a creative director.
