Entity has raised $5.8 million to develop a platform for web games with "console-quality" graphics.

It secured funding through a seed round.

Entity is an Irish startup founded two years ago by former members of Digit Game Studios, best known for the mobile strategy game Star Trek Fleet Command. Contrary to their previous work, they are now focusing on the web instead of mobile.

Entity has stated its ambitious goal of creating a "new web" that will be a full-fledged alternative to consoles and gaming PCs. The company hopes its own platform will be that place. According to Entity, the platform supports modern WebGPU standards with WebAssembly and will be capable of offering "instant" launches of high-quality games upon release.

Whether Entity will deliver on these bold promises will become apparent next year. It is expected that their platform will be released in early 2027.

The investors backing Entity include ACT, Delta Partners, Elkstone, Enterprise Ireland, and a group of business angels.
