Booming Games was fined $50,500 due to autoplay features
The company Booming Games faced a fine in Canada. It was issued by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).
AGCO discovered that several Booming Games titles used the prohibited autoplay feature — this allows users to play online slots automatically without manually executing each spin. The feature was reportedly available to residents of the province for several months.
Following the regulator's complaint, Booming Games disabled the autoplay feature. Now, it must pay 70 thousand Canadian dollars, or approximately 50.5 thousand US dollars, to Ontario's treasury. However, the company has the option to challenge the fine by requesting a hearing at the Canadian Appeals Tribunal within 15 days of receiving notification from AGCO.
