As Gamescom 2026 approaches, the anticipation grows with nearly 50 national pavilions, a significant rise from the previous year. The event sees newcomers like Bulgaria, Cyprus, Hungary, Morocco, and Nigeria among its exhibitors. Last year featured 40 pavilions from 35 different nations.
Over 1,600 exhibitors from a total of 67 countries are set to attend this year's Gamescom, breaking previous registration records when ticket sales commenced in March.
By July, the entire exhibition space of 233,000 square meters was already fully booked, marking the first such occasion. This area boasts the largest indie section to date, comprising over 420 companies, reflecting a 16% increase from the year before.
Gamescom Dev, which takes place before the main event, will host over 380 presenters covering 230 discussions across 18 stages. The initial list of speakers included professionals from esteemed companies like Sony Interactive Entertainment, Ubisoft, Insomniac Games, CD Projekt Red, and Epic Games.
Felix Falk, managing director of the German Games Industry Association, expressed, "With Gamescom 2026 almost here, the prospects are excellent. More exhibitors from 67 nations, a record-high number of country pavilions, a fully booked show floor, and the largest indie section ever—this year's event promises to be a remarkable celebration of the diverse gaming culture."
The event is set to include significant political participation, including a first-ever visit from Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The games industry and community eagerly anticipate a unique festival experience, both in-person in Germany and through global live streams.
Gerald Böse, president and CEO of Koelnmesse GmbH, remarked, "Gamescom 2026 reaffirms its crucial economic role not just in Germany but across Europe and the worldwide industry. The high interest underlines Gamescom's significant role for enterprises, organizations, and the global community. We are gearing up for a vibrant week full of networking, business discussions, premieres, diverse programs, and the collective energy that defines Gamescom."
