Save the Children has introduced its inaugural gaming and streaming fundraising initiative, named Save Point
Save the Children is set to introduce its inaugural gaming and streaming event, titled Save Point, this December for holiday fundraising efforts.
Fiona Baxter, the senior fundraising manager for the charity, revealed to GamesIndustry.biz that the initiative, Save Point, emerged out of a broader ambition to strengthen connections with the gaming audience.
Baxter mentioned, "Save Point enables us to connect deeper with gamers, both through partnerships and individual participation. Unlike marathon events, this is vastly more approachable and allows us to showcase the diverse abilities of different supporters."
The initiative will involve collaboration with TheKapFantastic, a content creator and streamer who has prior experience in fundraising for the charity, having gathered over £5,000 earlier this year.
After Save Point concludes, the charity remains committed to nurturing relationships within the gaming and streaming communities, according to Baxter.
"It's vital for us to extend our reach within this sector by sharing details about our initiatives and their significance," she expressed. "Success for this event would be marked by gaining new supporters excited to assist us again based on their experience."
"This event offers immense learning potential as it's our first with this format, and the insights gained will help us enhance future gaming events progressively."
Gamers and streamers are lauded by Baxter as "unsung heroes of fundraising," pointing out the innovative ways in which the gaming community supports charitable endeavors.
She emphasized, "Gamers inherently appreciate storytelling and immersing themselves in alternate realities. By channeling our passion for gaming toward meaningful, lasting change, we highlight the tremendous impact of this community."
The Save Point event is part of Save the Children's 'The One Delivery That Matters' campaign, kicking off in November 2026.
This campaign underlines the urgent need for essential supplies for children over the festive season, focusing on necessities like food, medicine, warm clothing, and shelter, as opposed to traditional gifts.
"Nowadays, nearly anything can be ordered right to your front door," Baxter remarked. "However, for millions of kids this Christmas, they're in critical need of life-saving and childhood-preserving deliveries, rather than toys or treats."
The Save Point event is scheduled for December 5 to 6, 2026. Those interested in joining can register here to get guidance on establishing a fundraising livestream.
