Bulgaria has introduced mandatory licensing for gambling affiliates
Partners of gambling operators, who generate revenue through accepting deposits and bets, player registrations, and other similar gambling activities, now must possess a special license to operate in Bulgaria. The new rules came into effect at the beginning of August.
The requirements apply to both legal entities and individuals. Foreign gambling affiliates need to appoint a representative with an address in Bulgaria to obtain a license and disclose all online channels they use to promote gambling, including websites and social media.
The license is issued for 5 years, with an annual fee. This consists of a fixed rate of 6,000 euros and a more flexible levy amounting to 10% of the commission earned from services.
It is reported that working without a license incurs fines ranging from 5,000 to 20,000 euros. The Bulgarian authorities may also completely confiscate the gambling affiliate's income and block their promotional channels.
