Supermassive Games is undergoing its third series of job cuts in the past three years, which could affect up to 75 employees.

The game development firm mentioned in a recent statement that these layoffs are crucial for maintaining the company's longevity.

According to their announcement, "We understand this is a very challenging period for all involved, and we are focused on providing assistance to those affected."

In July of last year, the studio reduced its workforce by 36 positions as it delayed the release of their horror game, Directive 8020, shifting its launch from October 2025 to May 2026.

At that time, the company cited the gaming sector as a "dynamic and tough environment," necessitating organizational changes to adjust accordingly.

The game, Directive 8020, earned mixed feedback and sold around 447,000 copies on platforms including Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox, based on Video Game Insight's data.

In February 2024, approximately 90 positions were eliminated as Supermassive Games initiated a review process.

The company reiterated that the gaming industry is confronting "significant hurdles, and sadly, we must address these as well."

They stressed their dedication to concentrating on their key strengths and future projects to bolster the firm's ongoing viability.
