GamesAid has announced the appointment of six new trustees as the organization secures £82,000 in funding for the 2025/26 period

In the financial year of 2025/26, GamesAid has introduced six new members to its board of trustees and successfully gathered £82,000 for four different charities.

Dom Shaw has taken on the role of vice chair, representing UKIE as their EDI senior officer. Catherine Anderson from Green Man Gaming has been appointed as secretary, while Amelia Suchy, co-founder and director of Mom to Mum, will serve as treasurer.

These appointments follow the transition from their predecessors, Mark Washbrook of Beat Games and Gavin Smith from Arbuthnot Latham.

The new lineup of trustees also includes Greg Weller from Generation Media, Jon Paterson of Barclays, and Matthieu Gras from CineRPG CIC.

Each of the four charities—AFK, Autistica, Rays of Sunshine Children's Charity, and Solving Kids' Cancer UK—has been allocated £20,500 from the £82,000 collected.

The funds were generated through a variety of fundraising initiatives such as events, tombolas, and raffles and were officially presented in a cheque-giving event during May 2025.

Another £30,070 was raised recently during Develop:Brighton, with contributions from events including Stand Up for GamesAid and Mark Ward's Charity Poker Tournament.

The funding allowed AFK to equip children with specialized mobility equipment, while Rays of Sunshine will fulfill gaming-related wishes for 15 young individuals facing severe health challenges.

In addition, Autistica is testing a program aimed at improving job readiness for neurodivergent youth, and Solving Kids' Cancer UK is enhancing its Family Support Service.

Sara Veal, chair of GamesAid, expressed her pride in the community's accomplishments over the past year.

"The gaming sector has encountered numerous obstacles lately, making the ongoing support and generosity from our members even more significant," Veal remarked.

"From participating in one of our events, engaging in a tombola, purchasing a raffle ticket, or simply sharing our mission—every contribution has been pivotal. The charities we back provide critical services for young people across the UK, and our funding will enable them to make an even greater impact."
