According to reports, Delphi Interactive has allegedly closed down FIFA World Cup developer Refactor Games

Delphi Interactive has reportedly closed down Refactor Games, a studio in which it had a partial ownership stake.

Reports from former employees, highlighted by Game Developer, indicate that the studio was closed just after the launch of FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition.

Refactor Games, a US-based studio, first made its mark with Football Simulator, an early access release in 2022. The team included veterans from EA Sports, 2K Sports, and OneTeam Partners.

The studio collaborated with Delphi on creating FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition, which was exclusively released for Netflix Games in June 2026.

Despite its critical reputation due to unfavorable reviews of controls, visuals, and player AI, Netflix described the game as an outstanding success.

On LinkedIn, an ex-employee expressed that Delphi terminated Refactor soon after they launched the game for Netflix, stating the entire team had been dismissed and offering to connect them with potential job opportunities.

Another laid-off worker shared that the shutdown was due to the withdrawal of financial support following the game's release for Netflix Games.

Earlier this year, during an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Delphi confirmed its partial ownership of Refactor. They have not issued any comments regarding the number of individuals affected or the closure itself, and both companies have remained silent on requests for statements.
