Historical records and the uncertain future of the Halo franchise in the context of the launch of Campaign Evolved and the depersonalization of 343 Industries

Halo: Campaign Evolved is positioned as the first fully-fledged remake of the legendary shooter. Today, we will analyze the game’s launch and the historical sales of previous installments, as well as discuss why Microsoft's approach and the transformation of Halo Studios do not inspire optimism for the franchise's future.

Initial Metrics of Halo: Campaign Evolved

Little is known about the pre-release metrics of the Halo remake. Microsoft traditionally does not share any statistics, so we have to rely on data from third-party sources.

By the release, Halo: Campaign Evolved had accumulated around 750,000 wishlists on Steam. On the 28th, it held the 40th position on the platform's most anticipated releases list. A good result, but far from outstanding for a project of this caliber.

The remake’s pre-orders were also quite uneven. Halo: Campaign Evolved spent only four weeks sporadically in the global chart: in June, it appeared twice at the 79th and 57th positions, then returned on June 21st, shortly before the start of expanded access, reaching the 17th place.
