Atari and Twin Galaxies declare the start of the Atari World Championships

Atari is collaborating with Twin Galaxies to initiate the Atari World Championships. This event will begin with a wide-ranging online tournament featuring five classic Atari games, culminating in a live Grand Finals.

Twin Galaxies, renowned for tracking game records and fostering competitive gaming, will utilize its Submission and Adjudication Process (TGSAP) to handle the online segment of the event. They will also enlist select brand partners for the North American trial run of the championship.

"Atari has an impressive legacy spanning over fifty years that enthusiasts continue to cherish," noted Wade Rosen, CEO of Atari. "We are excited to join forces with Twin Galaxies to honor competitive gaming, engaging our long-time supporters and attracting new community members."

According to Zachary Rozga, a senior executive at Twin Galaxies, the initiative with Atari revives the classic spirit and arcade enthusiasm of competitive gaming: "Our jointly developed World Championships format establishes a contemporary platform for players of all backgrounds to secure leaderboard positions, gain recognition for their accomplishments, and share their stories."

In additional news, Atari recently secured an agreement with Universal Pictures to turn ten of its intellectual properties into feature films. The titles include Asteroids, Adventure, Berzerk, Breakout, Centipede, Crystal Castles, Millipede, Missile Command, Pong, and Yars' Revenge.
