The head of Ubisoft is not concerned about Sony's move away from physical discs
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot does not see a catastrophe in Sony's decision to stop producing discs with new games for PlayStation consoles starting in 2028. He stated this during a teleconference with investors and analysts.

During the discussion, Guillemot reminded everyone that PCs moved away from discs for a digital distribution model a long time ago, and everyone managed to adapt. Moreover, the PC gaming segment is currently thriving.
Guillemot believes the console segment will also cope with the changes.
“There is currently expected to be some pressure on the cost of consoles, and transitioning to fully digital versions will help make devices more accessible. There are both pros and cons. But in our opinion, it won't significantly impact the industry,” added Guillemot.
For Ubisoft itself, the overwhelming majority of game sales now come from digital rather than discs or cartridges. It's worth noting that in its first fiscal quarter report, the company reported that digital editions brought in 80.6% of its net revenue for the period, amounting to 206.2 million euros. This figure has remained at roughly this level for several years.
