Gamecity Hamburg unveils its second round of funding for prototypes

Gamecity Hamburg has revealed that its next prototype funding phase will kick off in September.

Between September 4 and 24, emerging and established small to medium-sized companies, entrepreneurs, and startups can seek non-repayable grants of up to €80,000, with an overall fund of €180,000 available.

Projects showcasing strong market potential will be considered for funding.

This funding cycle introduces two new committee members: Nora Klutzny, producer at Off the Beaten Track, and Paul Taaks, co-founder and creative director at Overhype Studios.

The committee will also feature Dennis Schoubye (Head of Gamecity Hamburg), Nina Müller (VP of Publishing & Development Services at Goodgame Studios), and Valentina Birke (Director of Indie Arena Booth/Super Crowd Entertainment).

According to Schoubye, "This second funding round of the year allows us to support game developers in Hamburg with the launch of their projects."

"We're excited to include Nora Klutzny and Paul Taaks, whose market knowledge will enhance our selection process."

Earlier in May, Gamecity Hamburg revealed the beneficiaries of its initial funding round.

Among the recipients were Manor Cartographer by Pipapo Games and Odem by Odd Zeroes, each receiving €80,000; Welken by Studio Gutheil granted €60,000; Ungradable: Twisted Card Grading by Chasmic Drop Studio awarded €48,000; and Wrong Horse by Bird Outside Studio with €40,000.

Pipapo Games, along with Chasmic Drop Studios and Bird Outside Studios, had previously been part of Gamecity Hamburg's Lift Incubator program.
