The creator of Dead Space will no longer make games. He announced the end of his career in a video on LinkedIn.

In his farewell speech, Glen Schofield thanked his family, friends, former colleagues, and gamers for their support over the years. As the developer admitted, he had the privilege of witnessing "one of the best periods in video game history," but it was time to leave that work behind.

Schofield did not elaborate on the reasons for this decision, but it is noteworthy that he hinted at a possible retirement a year ago. Last July, he reported that he was unable to secure funding for a new game, despite the initial positive reactions from investors. Ultimately, the game was canceled, prompting Schofield to consider a career change.

Schofield is a veteran of the gaming industry. He began working on games back in 1991 when he joined Absolute Entertainment. Later, he worked at Crystal Dynamics and Visceral Games, and also co-founded several studios.

Throughout his career, Schofield contributed to an impressive number of games: from Barbie: Game Girl to The Callisto Protocol, but he gained the most recognition as one of the creators of the horror franchise Dead Space. Additionally, many remember him as the lead developer of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, and Call of Duty: WWII.
