Koei Tecmo plans to increase its staff by one and a half times in the foreseeable future
While the past few years have been marked by massive layoffs in the gaming industry, the Japanese holding company Koei Tecmo is actively growing and has no plans to slow down.

In an interview with Famitsu, Koei Tecmo's CEO Hisashi Koinuma revealed that his company currently employs about 3,000 people—twice as many as in 2024. This is already quite a lot, yet he believes Koei Tecmo needs to further increase its workforce. Therefore, they plan to eventually expand to at least 5,000 employees.
As the top manager explained, with this growth, the company will be able to release games faster and earn more money.
Koinuma hopes that by 2035, Koei Tecmo will manage to enter the world's top 10 gaming companies with the largest operating profit. Incidentally, it already boasts substantial revenues. The last fiscal year, which lasted from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, Koei Tecmo concluded with an operating profit of 37.17 billion yen ($229 million) and a net profit of 42.8 billion yen ($269 million). These were record figures, greatly surpassing the initial forecast; however, Koei Tecmo still lags behind other notable Japanese companies in terms of money. For example, Capcom had an operating profit of 75.3 billion yen ($477 million) for the same period, Konami had 135.9 billion yen ($838 million), and Bandai Namco had 189.5 billion yen ($1.17 billion).
