Gaming companies have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to aid residents of the Chinese coast
In July 2026, China’s coast was hit by two typhoons in quick succession: first "Maysak," then "Bavi." Torrential rains resulted in severe flooding, affecting over 300,000 people. The situation remains critical, prompting local gaming companies to step in and aid in disaster relief efforts.

According to GameLook, both industry giants and smaller studios have allocated funds to mitigate the aftermath of the typhoons.
Tencent is among these companies, donating 1.2 million yuan ($177,000) and sending inflatable boats, tents, blankets, and numerous boxes of food to the disaster area. Additionally, Tencent has launched a special fund totaling 20 million yuan ($2.95 million) to assist in future events of this kind.
NetEase, Yiyu Network, Hypergryph, Thunder Games, G-bits Network Technology, and Modo Global have also provided assistance. They contributed between 200,000 and 5 million yuan ($30,000 to $738,000), along with essential supplies, to charities working with those affected.
It is anticipated that in the coming days, Typhoon "Bavi" will move further inland and gradually weaken. Nonetheless, the number of those affected may still rise.
