In response to widespread criticism, EA has decided to eliminate microtransactions from EA Sports College Football 27
In light of reactions from its user community and content creators, Electronic Arts has eliminated microtransactions from the EA Sports College Football 27 game. The company admitted falling short by introducing paid progression alternatives in the game’s Road to Glory and Dynasty modes.
In preceding versions, players had the opportunity to use experience enhancers for quicker progress. These were supplanted with in-game purchases priced between $9.99 and $149.99.
A report by IGN highlighted that these microtransactions were neither communicated prior to the release nor included in initial previews of the game.
EA addressed the issue by stating, "This addition was intended to provide players with more options, but feedback indicates they are not delivering the anticipated value."
The company also stated its intent for the College Football 28 game and future editions to offer valuable features with improved transparency and communication.
Furthermore, it remains uncertain if players who have already acquired in-game currency will receive refunds. EA has acknowledged that removing the paid progression elements results in players being unable to utilize their College Point balances within the affected modes.
