It seems that Ubisoft no longer believes that "microtransactions make games more fun"

Ubisoft published a report on the company's performance for the past fiscal year, covering the period from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026. As noted by Game File journalist Stephen Totilo, a line about the "fun" side of microtransactions was removed from the document.

Recall that such a line was included in Ubisoft's previous report. A year ago, the company stated that microtransactions help make game experiences more engaging, even for paid titles. For instance, gamers can customize characters or accelerate skill progression. Ubisoft emphasized that microtransactions are an optional feature and players can always complete games without making additional purchases.

Why Ubisoft has now decided to omit this item from the document is unclear. It might be due to negative public reaction. Nevertheless, the company continues to embrace microtransactions.

Additionally, the latest report from Ubisoft highlighted a reduction in employee salaries. In the 2025-26 fiscal year, employees received an average of 69.4 thousand euros, a 4% decrease compared to the previous year. This figure is also lower than in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 fiscal years, though it showed a slight increase of 1.5% compared to the 2023-24 fiscal year.

As of the end of March 2026, Ubisoft employed 16,600 people. Of these, 88.6% were involved in game development, while the remaining 11.4% were engaged in publishing.
