Remakes of classics, "friendslop," and Japanese baseball: the highest-grossing releases of June on PC and consoles in numbers and charts
Despite the lack of traditional AAA blockbusters, June was packed with successful titles across various genres and formats. There were also a few surprises. For more details on sales, revenue, and other metrics of last month's major releases, check out our traditional column.
The games discussed in this article:
- Revenue, sales, and other metrics of June's major releases: Meccha Chameleon, Gothic 1 Remake, Powerful Pro Baseball 2026-2027, Star Fox, etc.;
- Data on indie hits and notable newcomers: Road to Empress II, SAND, Fatekeeper, Voiding Bound, Witchspire, 33 Immortals, etc.;
- The top-grossing releases on Steam for the first half of the year: How much did Forza Horizon 6, Resident Evil Requiem, Slay the Spire 2, Mewgenics, and other hits earn by the end of June?
To evaluate sales, revenue, and other metrics, we relied not only on official data from developers and publishers but also on information from external sources. These included Steam charts and data from analytics companies like Gamalytic and Sensor Tower (VG Insights). All figures presented in the article cover the period from each game's release date to June 30, 2026.
Last month, 2,050 new titles were released on Steam, a 21% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Of these, 303 were games with profile features (cards, badges, etc.), which surpassed a certain minimum threshold in revenue and user count.
Eighty-five titles earned over $100,000, while the gross revenue of 16 projects (0.8%) exceeded $1 million. Of all the new releases in June, 229 received more than 100 reviews, and 43 projects surpassed the 1,000 review mark.
We will next examine the parameters of the major releases and complement this information with data from the console market in the UK (GfK) and Japan (Famitsu).
