Mario Kart Tour is set to cease operations in September 2026
Nintendo has revealed that its mobile game, Mario Kart Tour, will be discontinued for both iOS and Android platforms in September 2026.
The mobile game, available at no cost to users, initially launched six years ago but will cease operations on September 29, 2026, at 11 p.m. PST.
“We sincerely thank the many players who have loved and supported the game since service began so long ago,” stated Nintendo in an expression of gratitude.
The reason behind the game’s closure was not disclosed by Nintendo, and there won't be an offline version available post-shutdown.
This approach is unlike the 2024 shutdown of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, which transitioned to a premium version afterward.
Preparations for the game's end began on July 7, with Nintendo halting automatic renewals and new subscriptions for the Gold Pass. Additionally, the game's currency is no longer in use.
Subscriptions extending past this cutoff will remain valid until August 4, 2026. Thereafter, all players will enjoy Gold Pass benefits free of charge until services conclude.
Development for Mario Kart Tour officially ceased in 2023, with no new content added since the Anniversary Tour.
