The founder of nDreams has opened a new studio — it will create franchises "at the intersection of games and music"
Last May, Patrick O’Luanaigh left the VR studio nDreams he founded, after 19 years as CEO. Now he has decided to return to game development.
O’Luanaigh's new studio is named Atmospheric. In an interview with GamesIndustry, he explained that he aims to explore new ways of merging games and music. He clarified that it’s not about developing music titles like Guitar Hero or Beat Saber. Atmospheric’s goal is much more ambitious — to “create immersive worlds where storytelling, interactivity, and sound are part of a unified creative vision.”
Currently, O’Luanaigh is the sole official employee of Atmospheric. He doesn’t plan to hire staff until he secures a publishing deal for the first game. Until then, O’Luanaigh intends to hire freelancers occasionally to handle tasks related to art, writing, and coding. The manager is hopeful to reach an agreement with a publisher by early next year.
Atmospheric is based in the United Kingdom. More information about the studio’s future games will be disclosed later.
