CD Projekt has rebranded itself as CD Projekt Red

CD Projekt, a video game company based in Poland, has rebranded itself as CD Projekt Red. The name change was approved during a general meeting on June 23, a move reported by Bankier.pl, a local financial news source. The company’s management explained that this change aims to align the corporate name with its game development studio, CD Projekt Red.

Originally established in 1994 to distribute foreign video games in Poland, CD Projekt launched the CD Projekt Red studio in 2002, following their acquisition of the rights to The Witcher book series for game development.

The management conveyed that the studio's activities reflect the company's main operations, which include video game production, brand management, and associated licensing. The rebranding is intended to strengthen brand consistency worldwide, simplifying the association of the company's products with its name.

CD Projekt previously owned the GOG digital storefront but sold the platform to co-founder Michał Kiciński for $25 million at the end of 2025. Following this transaction, GOG's managing director, Maciej Gołębiewski, remarked that the sale was initiated by CD Projekt and was anticipated due to differing business strategies between GOG and CD Projekt.

Currently, CD Projekt Red is focusing on developing The Witcher 4. Simultaneously, its Boston office is working on a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel. Additionally, a multiplayer game within the Witcher series, codenamed Project Sirius, is under development by their North American division. There's also ongoing work on Project Hadar, which will be the company’s first original intellectual property.
