The creators of Carmageddon: Rogue Shift and Redout have become independent once more

The Italian studio 34BigThings bought itself out from the Embracer Group holding. All 100% of its shares were purchased by the team's co-founder, Valerio Di Donato.

In his statement, Di Donato called the event the "third birth of 34BigThings": the first occurred in 2013 when the studio was founded, the second in 2020 when it was acquired by Embracer Group, and the third now, as it has regained its independence. As noted by the top manager, separation from the holding has given 34BigThings full autonomy in choosing projects, allocating resources, and making decisions.

34BigThings is now preparing for restructuring. Whether this will lead to layoffs is not specified. Notably, according to Di Donato, while under the wing of the Embracer Group, the studio managed to avoid massive layoffs and expand its staff to over 70 employees, whereas many of its other subsidiaries were not as fortunate.

Later this year, 34BigThings intends to announce a major project. Additionally, it is working on two other large games planned for 2027 and 2028.

The amount spent on buying out 34BigThings from Embracer Group has not been disclosed.
