Kabam, known for developing Marvel Contest of Champions, recently announced layoffs as they consolidate their office based in Los Angeles. This decision affects an undetermined number of employees.

The company spokesperson confirmed the layoffs but withheld specific details on the number of affected employees. Furthermore, there are currently no WARN notices filed with California's Employment Development Department.

A company representative stated, "After evaluating our strategic goals, Kabam has decided to consolidate its LA office to streamline operations. This decision was not made lightly, but our focus remains on our projects and partnerships."

One employee from the LA office shared on LinkedIn that they were laid off and are actively seeking employment.

Kabam's establishment in Los Angeles originated from acquiring Tapzen, founded by veteran Mike Verdu, and Magic Pixel Games in 2015. These studios were integrated to form a new Kabam division in Culver City, led by Verdu.

Kabam, purchased by South Korean company Netmarble in 2017, underwent another reorganization five years later in 2022, merging with Netmarble's US operations and maintaining operational presence in Los Angeles.

Renowned for Marvel Contest of Champions, which has accumulated $2 billion in revenue, Kabam partnered with Disney for the Disney Mirrorverse project, though it concluded in December 2024.

The publisher experienced workforce reductions in both 2022 and 2023.
